Jon Medved | Founder, CEO

Jonathan Medved is according to the Washington Post, ”one of Israel’s leading high tech venture capitalists”. In the September, 2008 NY Times Supplement “Israel at 60” Medved was named one of the top 10 most influential Americans who have impacted Israel. Medved has invested in over 100 Israeli startup companies, helping 12 of them to get to valuations in excess of $100 Million dollars. Medved was the co-founder and until recently the CEO of Vringo, a leader in mobile social applications which went public in June 2010. (NASDAQ: VRNG). Prior to Vringo, he was the founder and general partner of Israel Seed Partners (a $260M Israeli venture capital fund). At Israel Seed he led a number of successful investments and served as a Director on the Board of several portfolio companies including: Compugen (Nasdaq: CGEN), Business Layers (acquired by Netegrity, Nasdaq: NETE), Broadlight (acquired by Broadcom, Nasdaq BRCM), Answers.com (Nasdaq ANSW, acquired by Summit), Native Networks (acquired by Alcatel, Nasdaq ALU), and Xtellus (acquired by Oclaro, OCLR). Between 1982 and 1990, he was a founder and the EVP of Marketing and Sales at Meret Optical Communications. Meret was acquired by the Amoco Corporation (NYSE: AN) in 1990. He was also part of the founding management team at Accent Software (Nasdaq: ACNTF), a leader in multilingual software where he served as EVP of Marketing and Sales in 1993-1994.

Steven Blumgart | Chairman

Mr. Steven Blumgart is an investor in, and board member of, a number of privately-held businesses. Until January 2012, Mr. Blumgart was Co-director of the aluminum division at Glencore International plc, one of the largest commodity trading firms in the world, valued at $40bn. Mr. Blumgart joined Swiss based Glencore in October 1998, where he served in the coal commodity department, responsible for its industrial assets, before moving to the aluminum division. Prior to joining Glencore, Mr. Blumgart worked for three years at Grant Thornton in Johannesburg. Mr. Blumgart completed his Bachelor of Commerce (Tax Honours) degree from the University of Witwatersrand, and is a South African Chartered Accountant. In addition, Mr. Blumgart holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.

Pini Lozowick | General partner

Pini Lozowick is a serial entrepreneur, angel investor and venture capitalist. Pini has been a General Partner at the London based VC, Alta Berkeley, since 2003. He has backed multiple Israeli and US companies, 5 of which had a combined value on exit of over $3Billion. Pini was one of the first employees of Broadcom (BRCM) and their first Director of Marketing. Pini served as Chairman of Provigent which was sold to Broadcom for $350Million. Pini is also the founder and GM of Verisense, a Jerusalem based chip design company.

Zack Miller | Head of investor community

Zack Miller has been growing investment businesses for the past decade. He's held senior leadership positions and consulted to some of the top next-generation finance sites including Seeking Alpha, Lending Club, LearnVest, Wall Street Survivor, Covestor, and SigFig. Zack began his career in finance as an equities analyst at a multinational hedgefund. He's also the author of Tradestream your Way to Profits: Building a Killer Portfolio in the Age of Social Media (WIley, 2010) and runs the popular investing website Tradestreaming.com. Zack received his MBA from Northwestern's Kellogg School of Management and his BA in Economics from Harvard.

Elan Zivotofsky | General partner

Elan Zivotofsky has over 15 years of extensive, on-the-ground experience, focused on researching, raising capital for, and investing in Israeli companies. Elan has deep knowledge of the Israeli investment landscape, startup scene and the overall Israeli capital markets. Until recently, Elan was the Managing Partner of the Prelude Israel Fund, which was a hedge fund focused on Israeli companies. Elan was a Senior Vice President and the Head of Technology investment banking at Lehman Brothers in Israel from 2005-2008. Prior to that position, Elan was a portfolio manager at a global $1.5 billion hedge fund with a focus on long/short, catalyst driven and special situation investing. Between 1997-2002, Elan was a top-ranked Israeli technology research analyst at Goldman Sachs. Elan started his career as a technology research analyst at Morgan Stanley in New York (1994-1997). Elan received a BA from the University of Pennsylvania (magna cum laude).

Audrey Jacobs | VP business development

Audrey Jacobs is a public relations and marketing veteran of 20 years who’s served clients in financial services, high tech, bio tech, medical to non-profits.In addition to having her own marketing firm specializing as a media relations coach, she was part of a US media relations team for global PR firm Porter Novelli.Recently she left the corporate world to pursue her Zionist passion to found and lead the San Diego chapter of StandWithUs, a global Israel education and advocacy organization.Audrey built in San Diego an exciting StandWithUs chapter with a large crowd of Venture Capitalists, CEO’s and Investors. Through her 20 year experience fundraising and organizing event as a lay leader for Jewish and Israel causes, Audrey has received numerous Jewish leadership awards.Audrey received her BA from San Diego State University (magna cum-laude).She is a sixth-generation Dallas, Texan and an avid runner.

Danna Hochstein Mann | Business Strategies Partner

Danna is the former VP Business Development at JVP Properties, the business, media and cultural facilities management arm of JVP Venture capital. In this role, Danna was responsible for the further development and ongoing management of the JVP Media Quarter, home to fund offices, portfolio companies, nonprofit organizations, restaurants and more. Previously, Danna was Senior Manager of Investor Relations & Marketing at JVP. Prior to JVP, Danna worked in the Global Marketing Department of The Estee Lauder Companies and served as Human Resources Manager for Banter, an Israeli start-up. Danna is Chairperson of PresenTense Israel’s Board of Directors, where she works with management and mentors local social entrepreneurs. In her roles at OurCrowd and PresenTense and as a local activist, Danna combines her passions for entrepreneurship and the city of Jerusalem, where she was born and raised. Danna holds an Executive MBA from the Kellogg School of Management and a BA in Business Administration and Jewish Folklore from the Hebrew University.

Robert Citron | CFO

Robbie Citron brings to OurCrowd over 25 years of experience in financial management, including over a decade of working with start-ups through his role as Partner and CFO of Jerusalem Global Ventures, a leading Israeli venture capital fund. He also serves as consulting CFO for a number of independent Israeli biotech and medical start-ups, most recently with Izun Pharmaceuticals and Molecular Detection, Inc. Earlier in his career, Robbie was Financial Controller and Company Secretary of the Israeli branch of Hanson PLC and worked as a public accountant with PricewaterhouseCoopers in Israel and BDO Stoy Hayward in London. He is a Certified Public Accountant in Israel and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accounts in England & Wales. Robbie received an honors degree in accounting and finance from the London School of Economics and Political Science and sets aside part of his spare time to work with a number of Jerusalem based charitable institutions.

Gadi Mazor | General partner, CTO

Gadi Mazor served in the Talpiot Intelligence program (8200) and finished IDF’s officers course with extreme honors. He received a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mathematics and Probability with Distinction through the Addi Lautman Interdisciplinary Program for Fostering Excellence at the Tel Aviv University. Gadi founded and managed three startup companies in the fields of character and voice recognition and wireless communications, and sat on an advisory board of RIM (BlackBerry). Gadi holds patents on various aspects of wireless communications, and served on the US Senate committee that defined the US public alert system. His companies sold wireless solutions to over 1,600 enterprises, including the US Senate and House of Representatives, CitiGroup, Coca Cola, Raytheon, and many others. In the spring of 2013, Gadi was awarded the entrepreneur of the year award from Blackberry. Gadi is a marathon runner and was one of the crazy people who swam the length of the Sea of Galilee in the summer of 2010.

David Stark | Investment associate

David began his career as an investment analyst at Blackstone in the Real Estate Private Equity group, where he was involved in multiple leveraged buyout acquisitions with a combined value of over $700 million. David served in the Givati Rotem Brigade and finished basic training as the “most exemplary soldier” in his company. David graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics and was a Joseph Wharton Scholar. David enjoys skiing, fishing and craft beers.

Chaim Meir Tessler | Dealflow Manager

Chaim Meir was previously involved in real estate development in New York City with Tessler Developments, where he was involved in the development of over 600 luxury apartments and housing for 400+ students with a combined value of over $1B, including the first building in NYC to have Smart Home Technology built into each unit. During that time, Chaim Meir founded and operated an outsourced workforce business employing over 70 people. Prior to his real estate career, Chaim Meir received his degree in Rabbinics from The Chief Rabbi of Israel, and then studied Marketing in NY, where he graduated cum laude. In 2012, Chaim Meir moved to Israel with his wife and children. He is a technology enthusiast who loves learning, and creating.
David Arnovitz | Operations partner

David was a computer security software entrepreneur, co-founder and President of SecureWare, builder of a secure operating systems platform for web applications and Executive VP of R&D for S1, a financial software company that proved the technology by creating the first Internet bank, Security First Network Bank. SecureWare’s assets were sold to HP and S1 was publicly-traded on NASDAQ. David made aliyah with his wife and 5 children in 1999, and most recently was Vice President for Operations for The Shalem Center, where he defined and installed the IT infrastructure for Shalem College, Israel’s first liberal arts college scheduled to open in Fall, 2013. David, an avid bicycle rider, was chairman of the organizing committee for the Wheels of Love charity bike ride, the largest sporting fundraiser in Israel, raising upwards of $2 million per year for ALYN Hospital , a pediatric & adolescent rehabilitation center based in Jerusalem.

Evelyn Rubin | Business development partner

Evelyn Rubin joins OurCrowd after more than a decade of experience in Israel’s venture capital and technology industries. Evelyn was a Senior Editor at Seeking Alpha, a leading online destination for stock market opinion and analysis.She was formerly a Senior Associate at JVP, a leading international venture capital fund headquartered in Jerusalem. At JVP, she focused on early stage investments in new materials and semiconductor companies. Prior to JVP, Evelyn was Director of Business Development at CipherIT, an early stage mobile security company. Evelyn holds an undergraduate degree in History and East Asian Studies and an MBA with a concentration in Finance, both from Hebrew University.

Jay Kalish | SVP, General counsel

Jay Kalish has extensive legal, investor relations and management experience over the past 20 years. He has served as general counsel to Israeli companies traded on the NASDAQ, including Teledata Communications and e-SIM, as well as to several start-ups. Jay has successfully served as senior investor relations executive to public Israeli companies including Allot Communications and ECI Telecom, building significant institutional following for his companies in the US, Europe and Israel. He also served previously as CEO of the Patir technology incubator, where he succeeded in obtaining follow-on funding for five out of seven early seed portfolio companies. Jay holds a BA in economics from Yeshiva University and a JD from the Cardozo School of Law, and is admitted to practice law in New York and Israel. He volunteers at Paamonim, an organization enabling people to become financially stable, and in his spare time enjoys jogging and photography.

Wolf Bielas | Venture partner

Wolf Bielas is the Managing Partner of Wolfpack Ventures in San Diego, CA and a veteran of the technology industry. Less than a year after graduating from Mexico’s renowned Monterrey Institute of Technology, Wolf founded Computer Outlet, Inc. In 1991, Wolf founded Retail Systems International, which he then sold to Zebra Technologies (NASDAQ:ZBRA) in 2005. After the sale, Wolf founded RSI ID Technologies which merged with Sirit inc. (TSX:SI), a publicly traded company based out of Toronto, in 2008.From 2008-2010, Wolf was the President of Latin America for Sirit. After selling Sirit to Federal Signal Corporation (AMEX:FSS) in 2010, Wolf started Wolfpack Ventures, a venture fund for startup companies. Wolf holds a degree in Computer Engineering and has completed MIT’s Entrepreneur Masters program. His primary areas of expertise include corporate growth, M&A, software development and implementation, manufacturing, customer service, corporate leadership, and sales. Wolf currently serves in the board of directors for the Eastlake Business Association and is married with three children. Neil Cohen | Venture partner

Neil Cohen was  the co-founder and managing partner of Israel Seed Partners, a leading early-stage venture capital firm with $262 million under management. Neil currently serves as a Venture Partner at Sky Fund, an Israeli private equity fund, and is a partner at Resource Efficient Finance, an Israeli Energy fund. Over the last 25 years Neil has led a number of successful investments which have resulted in acquisitions by multinational companies as well as IPOs on NASDAQ and the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange. Neil began his career at the buyout arm of NM Rothschild and Sons Ltd in London as well as being a prominent print and broadcast economic journalist in Israel. Neil  has sat on the board of a number of public companies and has a BA and MA from Oxford University.

Sigal Widman | Human Capital Consultant

Sigal Widman worked more than ten years in the Venture Capital Industry. She was Vice President Human Resources and a Partner in Israel Seed Partners, Human Capital Consultant in Benchmark Capital Israel and Vice President Human Capital in Gemini Israel Fund. During those years, Sigal accumulated unique experience in management assessment of companies in the due-diligence stage prior to the investment decision.Sigal holds a BA in Hebrew Literature & General Studies from the Hebrew University and a Certificate in HR Management from the Open University. She graduated of the Coaches Training Institute (CTI), a US-based global training school accredited by the International Coach Federation (ICF), and has Group Leadership Certification from Bar-Ilan University.

Dr. Morris Laster | Venture Partner

Dr. Morris Laster is a physician with over 20 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and expertise in identification, development and management of advanced biomedical drugs and technologies. Currently, Morris is the inventor and developer of an implantable artificial kidney system, around which he built Clil Medical. He has founded 6 companies that have gone public in the US, UK and Israel. Most recently (2003-2009) he was the founding CEO of BioLineRx Ltd. (TASE:BLRX). From 1997-2002 he was the Chairman and CEO of Keryx Biopharmaceuticals (NASDAQ:KERX). He began his career as a VP of medical venture capital at Paramount Capital in NYC. Denes Ban | Venture Partner

Denes has dedicated more than 10 years to fostering growth and shaping corporate strategy for companies around the globe. Denes joins OurCrowd as the co-founder of PocketGuide, a winner of Techcrunch Europe, where he led the company to become the world’s leading travel guide mobile app with millions of users across 100 cities. Prior to building PocketGuide, he served as Chief Revenue Officer at Futureal, one of the largest Central European real estate investment partnerships. In addition, Denes led one of the European sales and consulting units of Exportradet, a leading management consulting firm, where he set international corporate strategy and increased the profitability of over 100 companies including Ericsson, Electrolux, H&M and Absolute Vodka. Denes holds an MBA from Umea University in Sweden and attended an EMBA at the Stockholm Business School. Denes also sits on the board of TLV Internationals, an NPO that serves as the largest international community center in Tel Aviv. Jeffrey Belk | Venture Partner

Jeffrey Belk is Managing Partner of Bright Light Management, LLC, focused on identifying and investing in growth opportunities in a selection of high-growth technology segments. Formerly, Belk spent almost 14 years at Qualcomm Incorporated, where prior to his departure in early 2008, he was Qualcomm’s senior vice president of strategy and market development.

From 2000 until 2006, Belk was senior vice president, global marketing, leading a team responsible for Qualcomm's corporate messaging, communications, and marketing worldwide. In 1999-2000, Belk was SVP & GM of Qualcomm Eudora Products, Qualcomm’s award winning email client. In 1997, Belk was named VP, marketing of Qualcomm Consumer Products, and initiated the company’s global branding and communications efforts. Prior to Qualcomm, Belk spent ten years in the early growth years of the PC industry, primarily with Proxima Corporation. Belk joined the company in 1983, when the company was less than 25 employees, and was with the company through its IPO in the early 90’s in several key distribution, product management, and international roles.

Belk currently serves on the Board of Directors of Peregrine Semiconductor (Nasdaq: PSMI), InterDigital Corporation (Nasdaq: IDCC), the Wireless Life Sciences Alliance, and the UC San Diego Alumni Association. Belk graduated UC San Diego with a degree in Economics, and has an MBA from UC Irvine.
