Tetra Pak signs deal with Fresh Start incubator

European food and packaging giant Tetra Pak is teaming up with Fresh Start, OurCrowd’s trailblazing FoodTech incubator, to develop new innovations, Food Navigator’s Flora Southey reports.
Tetra Pak will share its knowledge in a joint effort to develop new food innovations, while startups at Fresh Start, situated in northern Israel, will have access to Tetra Pak’s product development and research and development centers.
It is the first time the packaging multinational has collaborated with a food processing and technology incubator.
“By working together and combining Tetra Pak's decades of industry experience and expertise with the breakthrough innovations of food incubators such as Fresh Start, we can accelerate new food solutions that create novel avenues for addressing the challenges of the modern food systems,” says Rodrigo Godoi, Vice President of Processing Portfolio Management at Tetra Pak.
Fresh Start’s portfolio includes ProFuse Technology, a developer of cultured meat production technology; Pigmentum, whose technology can turn indoor or outdoor-grown crops into low-cost producers of high-value compounds for industries such as food and nutrition health, diagnostics and research, and cosmetics; BlueTree Technologies, which produces natural fruit juice with less sugar; and Bountica, a developer of food-safe, nature-based proteins that prevent the decay and spoilage of perishable foods and beverages.
